Been Away!

| | Comments (4)

I've not been just not posting, we've been away in Amsterdam! After the chaos at work of the last few weeks we got away for a very relaxing long weekend and feel much refreshed for it! It was the second time we'd been to Amsterdam and I love the city for just wandering around stopping every so often to enjoy the European cafe culture - Saturday afternoon sharing a bottle of wine, Sunday morning coffees - before meandering a bit further along the canals and shady streets.

Here's Paul stopping to enjoy the sunshine on one of the bridges

And here's a very familiar site in Amsterdam - lots and lots of bikes! in fact you do need to be very careful in the main areas as they come from every direction! (that's Paul and Andy to the left lost in random boys conversation before noticing I wasn't with them and turning round to say "are you still with us?") Going away with your hubby and one of his best mates might seem a bit odd but actually works quite well!

And here's some lizards (not real) but I just loved this little bit of grass with the lizard statues completely randomly with no explanation!

And in other news - The Ipod's back fixed!!! much relief - we missed it, we put it on totally random and to celebrate it played a most bizarre mix of Goldie lookin' Chain (I do share the pod with Paul you understand) followed by Bing Crosby's White Christmas followed by The Stranglers then Sinatra's Fly Me to the Moon and continued in this strange mix for some time - anyone with an Ipod will be familiar with the random choice where it manages to follow on each track fairly evenly but choosing a particular artist each day that it pops in a track from about every 3 or 4 tracks just to let you know what mood it's in!?!

An award!

I got a really lovely award from monkee maker, it's the Nice Matters Award.

nice%20award.jpg

It's to be "awarded to those who are just nice people, good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration! Those that care about others, that are there to lend support or those that are just a positive influence in our blogging world" Which is a really nice award but makes me feel really bad about being so distracted lately (got a promotion at work) and so lax at posting and commenting. Now I'm supposed to pass it onto another 7 bloggers but I see several that I would have have already got one! So I'm just going to award it to Di at Woollie Wanderings who I think is particularly deserving of this award!

Ipod dead!

| | Comments (0)

Oh my goodness - life as I know it has ceased to exist! The Ipod died!!! Bought as a treat to ourselves 3 years ago I don't know what I'll do without it - how did those cd thingys work? It's gone off to try to be repaired but we have the urge to rush out and get a new one anyway but Paul's making me resist until we hear the diagnosis.

don't forget my legs!

Here's the monkey so far - he's a bit concerned that I've not finished his legs yet! Not quite monkee maker's standard (she does something clever with the faces!) but I'm fairly pleased with him!

Poor Tiggy/Paul?

| | Comments (3)

I've been remiss at posting again - I shall endeavour to take pics of my knitting projects, I've completed the shrug, got halfway through a jacket and knitted half a monkey, that Paul says looks scary so I put the eyes on tonight and he's a lot less scary just has no arms or legs and only 1 ear at the moment!

Bob my geriatric bunny is getting his winter coat! and looks like a right scruffy old man! Despite being a bit of a bony old bun' he's now eating anything he can get his remaining teeth around!

Must share this evening with you - Tiggy has her annual problem of an allergic reaction to something or other and is scabby, only this year her feet are bothering her, the nice vet (who was very understanding with her grumpy rude language the other morning) gave us a spray for her feet that should help if it's corn bugs?!? This evening I gave Paul the choice: hold Tig. or apply the spray, he chose to hold Tig - I did ask if he was sure! Anyway the spray smelt rather strongly of alcohol and no doubt stinged rather a lot - cue Paul attempting to hold Tig. losing the battle and being left 'severely scarred' his cries of "look at this, where's the Savlon, this really stings...." to which I replied that I really couldn't do anything at the moment - as I was managing to hold Tig and spray her feet didn't go down well! He keeps showing me his battle scars and Tiggy is licking her feet so I may have a drunken puddy cat later, along with a sore hubby!
