the big green issue

I'm just putting a link in here as I got rather carried away with my comment on Meli-Mello about reducing our waste and it's worth looking at Little Brown Dress - we need to raise awareness as for me this summer's crazy weather has highlighted that Global warming is happening NOW!

new car!

Oooooh! I'm soooooo excited I pick up my new car in the morning!! it's a VW Golf! and it's got an Ipod integration built in! and it's red! (they don't do pink but red's very nice!) and the lights and windscreen wipers come on automatically! I have to admit to being very girly about choosing it - Paul asked about technical things I just checked it went fast and was sold completely by the Ipod thingy! Stand by for pics!

See my stash!

In response to Pauls "why the hell is there wool everywhere in this house?" I thought I'd sort it out as all the 'bargains' I'd bagged on ebay had arrived, plus the pile from John Lewis's bargain box....... and I have to admit I'd managed to leave wool in most rooms! so I tipped the contents of my stash boxes on the living room floor - unfortunately Paul walked in just then and I guessed from his " Oh for f***s sake" he didn't really understand the fabness that I'd realised my stash has become! It really has grown and I have at least 4 projects lined up!

The best news was when having screamed in frustration that I was going to run out of wool before finishing the latest project (a long discontinued Debbie Bliss line) I tracked some down in Norfolk! and amazingly when it arrived it was the same dyelot!! Okay so now my bargain shrug made from a lucky find in a bargain box how now increased in cost rather a lot, but at least I can finish the last 20 rows of 392 rib stitches - eventually!

Wow I've been nominated for the Creative Blogger award!! by Pauline, many thanks I'm really very touched by this nomination and by someone quite new to my blog! It's so fab to be appreciated - that's the fab thing about Blogland, all these like minded people! Now I apparently have to nominate 5 more people, so here we are:

knit one bake too - Louise who is also at kntting group and as well as fantastic baking she extremly creative in her knitting projects!
Noodles and Doodles - must include Max's blog who at the moment has rather a lot to contend with 2 small children but when she gets the time is the most creative person I know!

Long time no post!

Well it's been a long time since I posted - where does time go? So what have I been up to?

Last weekend Warren, Max, Emily and Harrison came to stop, quite a scary prospect having 2 small children stopping when you're not used to them at all! but I think it went well, Paul and I both did bedtime stories and I fed Harrison, never having had this experience I was flushed with success - they did say he likes that so it's easier - I voluntered again the next day when Harrison was not so happy and it was lumpier, not so easy!! We all played on the Wii, reviving my student days with Warren as flatmate and Paul who came down most weekends (with his extra controllers) of MarioKart and Bomberman on the super Nintendo. I beat them at Tennis much to their amazement but Emily was quite amazing at boxing?! Max and I also went shopping, so fab to get some girly shopping time in!

On the knitting side I got a bit carried away on ebay having been sniped several times I desperately tried to snipe and failed! But I did get 10 balls of cotton cashmere in light purple - just need to decide what to knit with it! I gave up on bidding and bought on the buy now option some green astrakan type wool to do a jacket in and then went to John Lewis to discover their bargain bin was rather full - after wandering round clutching rather a lot of wool studying pattern books I restrined myself to 11 balls of Rowan Cottan braid and a pattern for it!

Gardening in this weather has been hard going, it's managed to rain most days off, plants are growing rather oddly or not growing, today though I gave in and gardened in the rain as I really had to get the veg. plot under control and this evening we had Sunday dinner with all home grown veg. very tasty!

Here's some of my sweetpeas that are growing incredibly well and I have to keep picking in the rain!
