Bob's accident!

Poor Bob the geriatric bunny had an accident the other day, when I came home he seemed to be lying oddly - then I realised he must have slipped and his back legs were stuck behind his ramp (between two of the three levels of his fancy home built hutch) cue complete panic as I heaved on the ramp to free him, then when I put him on the floor to check he was okay he was dragging both legs behind him! at which point I scooped him up clutched him to me and the tears started as I blubbed to Paul who when he finally understood what I was burbling frantically at him was far more sensible and pointed out that his legs might just have 'gone to sleep' if he'd been stuck a while - sure enough a few minutes later he was almost fine again! He's not used his ramp since but he's run round the patio lots and is enjoying the attention and copious dandelions to aid his recovery! After 11 years together I'm very attached to my bunny friend but time's going to come in the not too distant future - 11 years is very old for a bunny - and having seen my reaction to his small accident it's going to be painful!

On another note when is this rain going to stop so everything can get on with growing? I thought this was supposed to be the best summer for years? The slugs are loving it too much - oh and nearly forgot, after my previous post referring to my horror of slimy things I touched a slug (accidentally of course) whilst potting up a geranium I felt something slimy and started squealing shuddering, and shaking my hands frantically for some minutes - sometimes I'm such a drama queen!

Poor Bob!!
And what an age - he is obviously well loved and well looked after to reach that grand age. The worst part about having animals is that they do not live long enough.
Enjoy all the Bob moments you can get - he sounds like a lovely chap!

I'm so glad to hear he's come good, I was holding my breath up until that bit! Give him a nose rub for me :)

Poor old Bob, and poor you too - glad to hear that he's ok now. There really is no way to prepare for what you know to be inevitable - our pets do become a part of our families and loosing them is heartbreaking. We had 2 cats (sisters) and loosing them was really hard - even though it was 7 years ago I still think of them often. Hope you and Bob enjoy a long and lovely summer together.

Zoe:

Just read about Bob. So glad he is OK. I am the same with our pets. I know just what you mean about slugs. I really do not like them or snails and worms.
