Big Pink Gerbera!

| | Comments (4)

Look what I got delivered to work today! Lovely hubby sent me flowers for our wedding anniversary with my most favourite bright Pink Gerberas - shame they actually came a day early and he's out on a lads night out tonight - but he's taking me out for dinner tommorow as well so that's ok! Aren't I a lucky girl?

Bob's accident!

| | Comments (4)

Poor Bob the geriatric bunny had an accident the other day, when I came home he seemed to be lying oddly - then I realised he must have slipped and his back legs were stuck behind his ramp (between two of the three levels of his fancy home built hutch) cue complete panic as I heaved on the ramp to free him, then when I put him on the floor to check he was okay he was dragging both legs behind him! at which point I scooped him up clutched him to me and the tears started as I blubbed to Paul who when he finally understood what I was burbling frantically at him was far more sensible and pointed out that his legs might just have 'gone to sleep' if he'd been stuck a while - sure enough a few minutes later he was almost fine again! He's not used his ramp since but he's run round the patio lots and is enjoying the attention and copious dandelions to aid his recovery! After 11 years together I'm very attached to my bunny friend but time's going to come in the not too distant future - 11 years is very old for a bunny - and having seen my reaction to his small accident it's going to be painful!

On another note when is this rain going to stop so everything can get on with growing? I thought this was supposed to be the best summer for years? The slugs are loving it too much - oh and nearly forgot, after my previous post referring to my horror of slimy things I touched a slug (accidentally of course) whilst potting up a geranium I felt something slimy and started squealing shuddering, and shaking my hands frantically for some minutes - sometimes I'm such a drama queen!

I've been tagged

I've been tagged by Diane the rules of the tag are:

1. Start with 7 random facts/habits about yourself
2. Then write them on your blog
3. Then choose another 7 people to get tagged and list their names

So here goes with my 7 random facts:

1. Despite being a gardener (with a wormery) the thought of touching a worm or especially a slug - even with gloves on - makes me go all wobbly and leap out of the way!

2. I think I really am addicted to buying plants, not just obsessed but addicted - whenever I come across plants for sale I am utterly compelled to buy some, whether I have room for them or not!

3. I have the worst memory of anyone I know, short and long term things just disappear out of my head - drives Paul mad!

4. I was a member of the Right Said Fred fan club many years ago (them of the bald heads - sang 'I'm too sexy' and 'Deeply Dippy'. Ooooh that's really embarassing isn't it?

5. In my younger days I was into rock, unfortunately had very short hair until quite recently and used to get many a stiff neck trying to head bang with no hair - now it's long I'm more into dance music!?

6. I'm a big fan of Dylan Moran's though many people have no idea who he is (Irish comedian did 'Black Books' series and 'How do you want me?'

7. Despite being able to turn my hand to many things, from gardening to tiling to sewing to yoga I am a complete and utter failure at cooking - attempts at it get me surprisingly stressed and result in some quite revolting dinners.

well these were easier than I thought to come up with - hope you were interested! now the tricky bit is who to tag that's not already been tagged? so here goes:

Max Tracy Lisa Ali Zoe Heather Okay forgive me - only 6 but so many have beaten me to it!

Lots of progress.

Lots of progress to fill you in on! on the knitting front the Phildar cardigan is doing well I've done the back and both fronts and am on the trumpet sleeves - however I have rather long arms and get a bit bored doing the long straight bit of sleeves! hence why I often knit sleeveless tops! here's the first sleeve in progress:

And on the gardening side it's all been coming on very well with the sun and all this rain too! here's the greenhouse which has an awful lot of tomatoes in it and also the pots ad baskets settling in before it's warm enough to put them out, and they seem to be loving it in there! they get bigger every day.

and here's the first of the lettuces in their box - we'll be eating them soon the rate they're growing!

The blackbird family are having a bad day - they decided to teach the fledglings to fly today, they never learn that every year we all have a stressful day as they fly around screeching in panic and I run round trying to catch Tiggy the killer cat who leaps madly on all the poor dazed little baby blackbirds until I catch her and shut her in and put up with the banging on the cat flap all day! It started at 6am this morning when she spotted we had forgotten to lock the cat flap last night so she went and brought the first one in which thanks to the loud screeching we woke up and released, the next one wasn't so lucky as I didn't spot her in time as she ran up to the bedroom with it! Then the 3rd one was this afternoon while I was in the garden - cue mad dash by all parties concerned - Tiggy is now banging on the flap periodically coming in to me to shout loudly while Mr & Mrs Blackbird are flying back and forth trying to show the daft fledgling on the floor how easy it is (it's been an hour now and he's not moved!)
