The cabbages are coming!

| | Comments (1)

I put the first pots of seeds in the heated propogator on the kitchen windowsill on Wednesday and was very excited that this morning 2 little cabbage seedlings were poking through and by the afternoon I had 6! Spring is most definately on it's way! I've been and bought raspberry canes today and the garden centres are filling up with plants it's just so uplifting to see the end of winter in sight and look forward to long summer evenings pottering in the garden - wandering around with the hose and a glass of wine is a fab way to unwind after work!

huge knitting group!

it was knitting group last night, I'd missed 2 weeks and it had grown to 25 people with more showing an interest who may come next week! It's fantastic that there are so many knitters in Dundee and you pick up lots of tips, ideas and suppliers. The only downside was that Starbucks seem rather disgruntled at us taking over so much room that they tried to squeeze in a too small area which we overspilled to make 2 groups - with a lot of nipping about to compare progress and see what everyone's working on - we have insisted that we get a bigger spot next week even if we have to buy our own coffee!

My lovely blue top is now coming along well - despite a small mistake where I started increasing before I'd done the last decrease, but decided that 2 stitches wasn't going to make that much difference and carried on! just hope I don't end up with a wierd bulge. I'll post pics soon!

compost pride!

We both got out in the garden today and got half the veg. plot dug over and our home made compost dug in, our compost bins that we made from recycling wooden boxes have made some fantastic compost, with the help of a lot of worms who had moved in! I feel some damn good veggies coming this year! That's if we can recover from the shock of the hard work digging - two very aching backs!)

Bob the bunny had a good run round the garden today too, I think Spring like days are making his arthritis much better because he can certainly move for an 11 year old bunny (90 odd in our years!) but he'll never understand that Tiggy the cat is not playing nicely she has evil intentions!

frustrated!

I got very excited when the new Rowan yarn Damask arrived for my new project, however I have now restarted it 3 times! and am hesitating to continue expecting to 'knob it up again'! it's a lovely pattern but involves variations of knitting 2 together, slip 1, pass stitch over and yarn forward in various combinations each row. The first time I had messed up about the 4th row in so thought It'd be quicker to restart, then I made another mess up on the first repeat so thought I'd un-knit which took ages, thought I'd sorted it out but several rows on realised I'd lost a stitch somewhere and the pattern wasn't so much a pattern as a mess! So I have cast on again and done 2 rows, I'm sure it'll be lovely if I ever get there and it is more of a summer top than winter!

finished things!

I've finished not only my tank top but another hat too! Rather liked the brown one so I made a dark pink one from some of my stash.

I'm not in it as I'm really not liking myself in photos at the moment! Might be the hair? or that I have a really wonky jaw that I only notice in photos?!?

After 2 years of growing my hair it's now really quite long and I'm actually thinking do I prefer the very short crop that I used to have? but it took years to take the decision to grow it and an awful lot of in between scarecrow look to get to this point, so just going and getting it chopped off again is going to take serious thought, is it just that I really can't get the hang of doing things with long hair?

Went to see some friends with a very cute 4 month old baby yesterday, and found myself thinking 'oooh do I need one of those!' Paul asked several questions about sleeping, nappies, feeding and baby minding - I'm not sure if he was actually weighing it all up or just thought that's what he should be talking about to them now they're parents?!

oops I did it again!

I've not blogged in a week as I've been trying to finish my lovely tanktop, I can't believe though I did the same mistake as last time! when picking up and knitting stitches to make the neckband I forgot to stop at the shoulder and didn't realise until I'd finished the band and cast off! cue loud swear word! so I spent the next evenig redoing it, only the side seams to stitch up so there should be pics soon!

I don't often blog this early - I was supposed to be picked up for a meeting but due to snow we're running very late so I here I sit waiting - if it gets light enough I'll take some nice snow pics.
