November 2006 Archives
Apologies - I've been very sporadic at posting lately, due to the vast amount of Christmas knitting I've had to do but I have now completed all the present knitting (can't post any pics yet as it'd ruin the surprise for any one I've knitted for reading about it!) but I'm now just left with 8 bobble hats for the Christmas table!
I'm very proud of my table - as Paul does all the cooking it's my contribution to dinner to have a fab table and this year I've gone very traditional with red, green and gold. So far I've made a lovely new runner, got gold chargers, constructed a candle centre just awaiting some last minute holly, matching crackers and little chocolate puds and logs to go inside the bobble hats I've yet to knit! I'll make sure to take a pic before dinner!
I also got some fantastic sprinkles for the table in my colours in the shape of reindeers, trees and stars from the new Paperchase inside Borders that opened recently! I got ridiculously excited at such spot on sprinkles to match my theme!! Also on the subject of Borders they are planning to start a knitting group in the coffee shop so I rapidly put my name down and am awaiting details - very excited!!!!
Here's the hat I knitted for Harrison, (warren and Max's new baby son) as modelled by my lovely (if a tad small) pumpkin, which Paul has since made into rather nice soup! and including lovely big pom poms made with my new pom pom makers!

and here it is again with Tiggy who felt the need to get in the picture - never willing to pose when I want her to but feels the need to be centre of attention if she feels something else has my attention!
last year I had not long taken up knitting and knitted a few presents, so this year I got carried away and started planning rather a lot, including mini hats and stockings for the Christmas table, designing a pattern for one present myself and then added in a present for friends Warren and Max who just had a new baby!http://www.twobluelines.com and I've now realised quite how close it is and how little time I have with working so much extra at work as well so I've taken to carrying my knitting about much more and trying to squeeze a few more rows in as often as possible! I then had to do a dash in my lunch hour to the craft centre to try and get more wool for the project I'm halfway through and was taking a lot more wool than expected - thankfully they had some left in the right batch no. - Roll on boxing day when I can get on with the project for myself I bought the wool for some weeks ago now!
