I'd seen pom pom makers advertised in a craft mag. and ordered some the other day (I know 2 bits of card works fine but poking wool through the hole is tedious and I was always tempted to make a smaller hole to speed it up and then ended up with crap pom poms!) so anyway, they arrived - 4 different sizes - and I was very excited, Paul thought I'd really lost the plot but they're so quick and easy to make really good pom poms I happily sat the other night making pom pom after pom pom! Here's one on the cute Santa hat I made(adapted from the patterns on http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/holminihats.htm ), I intended to photograph Bob in it but he's a sneaky bunny and every time I put it on his head he stayed beautifully still until the last second when a slight nod knocked it off, so I have several pics of Bob with no hat on! so here's Tiggy wearing it rather reluctantly and refusing to smile - I think my plans for using them on a Xmas card may need some doctoring of photos!

I was reading an extract from Victoria Beckham's book (there are rather a lot of celeb. biogs at the moment) anyway I've always thought - 'lovely wardrobe probably not a lot else to her' but the bit I read had me laughing out loud it was very dry humour that I had to read twice before it clicked - she was on about her tatoo of 5 stars on her back representing her, david and their sons and then added 'they also mean I can survive three months in a freezer, which is handy', maybe it was just me but this just tickled me so much?! I've added her book to the Xmas list I've been printing out for Paul - which includes a Jordanna Paige knitting bag in one of the new colours, a stitch and bitch calendar, and the DVD of the 2 series of 'how do you want me'.
I was intending to get outside and clear the garden today but with gale force winds I stayed inside and did some yoga and knitting instead, very relaxing. Tiggy seems to get full of the wind on days like this and comes dancing into the house like a small tornado - all wild eyed and rushing about madly! I tried the santa outfit on her tonight and you've never seen a less impressed cat - that's not going to make a nice Xmas card picture!
Oh No - less than 2 weeks to halloween and although my pumpkins are starting to turn they've a long way to go and are going to be very small Jack O'Lanterns!! do I give in and buy the Tescos ones for the ridiculously cheap £1 or just settle for small ones? (bloody Tesco's it's there everywhere with prices to undercut anything in their bid to take over the world! - 'scuse me for my rant there rather anti tesco's!) anyway, on another note I've spent the last 2 nights knitting very small stockings, hats and Xmas trees in my preperations for Xmas, which every year I have grand plans and then work goes demented and I have no energy for anything when I get home! but this year there is a chance of a much larger family Xmas at our house than before so I do think that if it happens I need to pull out the stops and have a fabulous table and decorations (I don't know if I mentioned before my complete inability to cook so Paul will be creating the cullinary turkey masterpiece and therefore I need to 'keep my end up'). We have had a cat santa suit in at work which I'm tempted for Tiggy - at least to take a photo - but I think she might just leave home if I do inflict it on her?! Bob (the bunny) would no doubt happily pose in reindeer antlers if a carrot was the reward.
it's that frustrating time of year - summer's gone and I'm having to go full on Xmas at work and I really want to get outside and clear the garden but every day off it rains so I can't. We did get 1 day when we turned the compost bins and got rather excited by the lovely brown compost ready to go that we'd made with our super dooper home made recycled wooden box compost system. Nan's sending me up a Spong bean slicer for processing our runner beans (tried ebay for one but they go for lots more than I wanted to pay!?) so I was hoping to have some beans left to try it but they're getting a bit to big and no more are coming so I may have to improvise??
that's Paul next to it who didn't really want to be on my blog but as he never reads it I left him in nearly!
aaaagh! dashed out to get a hair dye this afternoon as I'm going away for the weekend (to Amsterdam) and they'd stopped doing the one I've been using for years so I grabbed the nearest looking alternative without reading it thoroughly as Bob (the rabbit) was sitting in the car having been to the vets, anyway got home and after a brief glance that the process was the same as my normal dye I slapped it on merrily, thinking that it was a runnier one than my usual one. Three quarters of an hour later I lathered it as instructed and managed to splatter most of the bathroom with very bright red dye! I panicked as I spotted this and as I had a head full of dye I aimed the shower head around the worst on the curtains etc! and thought I'll just rinse this off then clean up - well 20 mins later I was still waiting for the water to run clear and starting to worry so I just towelled it dry, having cleared the scene of devastation in the bathroom I took a look at my hair - bugger me that's bright red I thought then realised - so's my neck and scalp and forehead unfortunatly the worst grey bits at the side got missed a bit. So do I try to do the grey bits with the leftover or will it just get me in more of a mess? Glad I bought a new hat today to go away with!!
